’Regaining hope after all is lost’

Meet Lisa Baldeh.

Lisa Baldeh is a committed and hard working beneficiary in the SOS Community Empowerment Programme in Basse funded by the SOS Finland.

A mother of three all of whom she lives with in a two room house while Lisa managed to enroll both Mariama and Fatima through her meager resources. Pateh is enrolled through the SOS Community Empowerment Programme educational package. Lisa serves as the Treasurer of the Samba Tacko Family Welfare Committee while operating in petty trading to sustain the survival and developmental needs of her children.

Lisa participated in numerous training on women and children’s rights, entrepreneurship and business development training as well as being sensitized on proper health and hygiene practices, legal issues and procedures in obtaining legal assistance on child and women rights violations, recently Lisa benefitted from the SOS Children’s Villages COVID – 19 Emergency Response Intervention through a cash transfer of one thousand dalasis monthly for three months, a plastic water container and bleach to encourage proper hand washing practices in her home.

As Lisa double up as a beneficiary caregiver and a member of the Family Welfare Committee is optimistic that her family is heading towards resilience to the many challenges and eventually achieve self-reliance. All thanks to the Community Empowerment Programme – CEP in Basse funded by the SOS Finland.
